Tributes paid to Indira Gandhi

Hyderabad, November 01: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the occasion of her 25th death anniversary on Saturday.

Chief Minister K. Rosaiah led the State in paying tributes to the late leader when he garlanded the statue of Indira Gandhi at Necklace road. Participating in a condolence meeting at Gandhi Bhavan later, he recalled the sacrifices made by the former Prime Minister and her family for the country.

Indira Gandhi, he said, was a leader who had the commitment and courage to implement the decisions which she thought was in the interests of the people.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas recalled the contribution of Indira Gandhi in taking steps for alleviation of the problems faced by the poor.

He said the Nehru-Gandhi family was known for its commitment to protecting the secular fabric and national integration.

Several Ministers and senior Congress leaders also paid tributes to the former Prime Minister.
