Midnapore (WB), October 25: Tribals today set afire a power sub-station of the West Bengal State Electricity Board after a woman was electrocuted at Kolsonda village in troubled West Midnapore district.
Police said the woman died after she came in contact with a live wire hanging from an electric pole.
As news spread, the villagers, just six km away from the area under the command of the Joint Security Force deployed to combat the Maoists, attacked the 133 KV power sub-station, ransacked it and set it on fire.
They also torched two motorcycles and four private cars parked outside and blocked a road.
Fire brigade engines reached the spot soon and doused the flame. Police used batons to disperse villagers and lifted the road blockade, police said.
