As many as 46 tribal habitations in Visakhapatnam district have been electrified using solar power.
The information was given by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during Question Hour in the State Legislative Assembly on Friday while replying to a question raised by MLA P Rajanna Dora and others. He said that the State Government have for the first time announced its Solar Policy for harnessing of solar power. As on January 31 this year, 23.75 MW capacity of Solar Power Projects and 420.32 MW capacity of Wind Power projects have been installed.
The Chief Minister said that proposals for electrification through Solar Photo Voltaic panels of 96 Girijan Thandas at a cost of Rs 24.8 crore have been sanctioned under Decentralised Distributed Generation scheme. Of them, 46 habitations have already been electrified, he said. (INN)
