Trial run begins at Tirumala

Tirumala, January 29: The trial run of the state-of-the art machinery installed in the newly constructed temple kitchen for the open sale of Srivari Laddu Prasadam began this morning. For the first time in the history of Venkateswara temple, Laddu Prasadam is being prepared outside the complex.

As part of the mechanisation process, `boondi’, the main ingredient of laddu, is prepared outside. Later, it is sent into the temple through a conveyor belt.

For the trial run, Potu workers prepared boondi on 10 sophisticated LPG stoves. All the 45 LPG stoves installed in the new temple kitchen will be used for regular production of Laddu Prasadam.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah will inaugurate the new temple kitchen on January 30.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Executive Officer IYR Krishna Rao who inspected the trial run, said: “We have opted for mechanisation of laddu preparation to meet the increasing demand for Srivari Prasadam. The entire cost of the project is borne by donors.’’
