Trial in Ayesha murder case stayed for a week

Hyderabad, June 11: Justice P. Swaroop Reddy of the A.P. High Court on Thursday stayed the trial in Ayesha Meera murder case for a week.

The petition filed by main accused Satymbabu will be taken up for hearing on Monday.

The judge was dealing with a petition filed by Satyambabu. It may be recalled that police had claimed that he was accused in the sensational murder case of Ayesha Meera who was killed in a girls’ hostel. The trail is in progress in the Vijayawada court.

Recording of statement

He had complained that the trial court at Vijayawada had issued direction for recording his statement under Section 313 of Criminal Procedure Code.

Such statement could not be recorded unless all the witnesses of prosecution were thoroughly cross examined, he contendedSatyambabu said that due to his health condition, he could not instruct his advocates in this regard.

He was seriously ill as could be seen from the record and without completing cross examination of the witnesses, he could not be compelled to give statement.

The court felt that stay could be granted for limited period and adjourned the matter to Monday while granting stay for a week.
