Hyderabad: Mr. A.K. Khan, IPS, DGP of ACB told that trend of the Muslim girl are getting higher education is appreciable. There is a need for getting full awareness with Islamic teachings. He was addressing “The Gems of the Nation Award” function organized by Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust and FEED. In all, 228 meritorious students mostly from Govt. schools were given awards.
Mr. Ghyasuddin Babu Khan, Chairman of Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust presided over the function. Lt. General Syed Mohammed Zaki, former VC of Jamia Milliah Islamia, New Delhi and Advisor to Governor of J&K, Mr. Ismail Ali Khan, Chairman, TS Electricity Regulatory Board, Mr. Mohammed Shafiullah, IFS, MD of Minorities Finance Corporation, Mr. Ziauddi Nayyar, Vice President of Tameer-e-Millath and toehr applauded the welfare activities of Mr. Babu Khan.
Mr. A.K. Khan told that Muslim girls are attracted toward higher education which is a good trend. Lt. Genral Zaki advised the students to be “Shaheen” of Dr. Iqbal which flies high. He stressed the need for building good character.
Mr. Ghyasuddin Babu Khan in his presidential speech, highlighted the activities of the trust for the past 25 years. He said that 3, 48, 000 students from rural areas are getting aid from the trust. The trust has so far spent Rs. 67 crore. It is running 98 Urdu medium and three English medium schools. There are 24000 studnts studying in these schools. The percentage of girls is 72. Every year, the trust helps 8000 orphan and physically handicapped students. The Gems of the Nation Award is presented to the students who secure 9.3 or more grades in SSC. Every student gets Rs. 10000. This year Rs. 25 lakh are being given to 228 students. Dr. Meer Akbar Ali Khan, Capt. Pandu Ranga Reddy and others were present in the function.
