Travel agent held on pretext of duping people

New Delhi: A 30-year-old travel agent who allegedly used to cheat people on the pretext of domestic and international tour packages has been arrested from east Delhi’s Vinod Nagar area, police said today.

The accused, Ravi Rajput, owns a travel agency in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area and was booked under two cases for allegedly duping people to the tune of around Rs 5.14 lakh, said a police official.

“Rajput used to lure people by offering specific domestic and international tour packages at excessively low prices, according to his own convenience. On the day of the journey, he used to cancel the tickets and transfer the refund amount to his own account,” DCP (East) B S Gurjar said.

Rajput was arrested yesterday when he came to meet an associate in East Vinod Nagar, where the police had laid a trap, Gurjar added.
