Members of Telangana Hijra Transgender Samithi raised a demand on Monday that a separate transgender commission along the lines of Human Rights Commission and Women’s Commission should be set up in the State.
The demand raised by Transgender after the murder of a transgender Pravalika in the wee hours of Saturday in Kukatpally.
The members also demanded the implementation of Supreme Court order on improving the conditions of transgender by
providing education, employment and other welfare measures.
“Pravalika who hails from a poor village in Nizamabad, raised herself to be an MBA despite the dishonor associated with a transgender. She was compelled to eke out a living by begging. We should not let her death go waste,” said Vyjayanthi, a member.
“There are several of our sisters who are highly educated but there are no jobs even in corporate sector. We are shunted out at the gates of multinational corporations without even giving a chance though several of lesbians, gays and bisexuals find place,” pointed out Chandramukhi, member of Transgender Samithi.
