Members of CITU-affiliated AP Electricity Stores Hamali Workers Union today staged a dharna in front of the Vidhyut Soudha demanding regularization of their services.
Squatting in front of the Vidhyut Soudha building, the Hamali workers shouted slogans demanding that the government concede their demand immediately. Speaking on the occasion, Union leaders Yadaiah and Umamaheshwara Rao demanded that the government scrap the tender policy and regularize the services of the workers.
Stating that they put forward their demand several times earlier, the Union warned that they would not hesitate to lay a siege to the Assembly if their demands were not met.
On receipt of the information, the police rushed to the spot and took away the Union leaders for talks with the authorities concerned and whisked away the protesting workers to the Punjagutta police station. (NSS)
