Some trains cancelled, rescheduled due to Andhra disturbance

Hyderabad: The South Central Railway on Monday cancelled or rescheduled some trains due to the disturbance to train movements after a train was set afire by protestors near Tuni in East Godavari district on Sunday.

Though the movement of trains has restored on Vijayawada – Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam section on Vijayawada division with Kapus calling off their blockade, several trains were running five to six hours late. This resulted in authorities cancelling or rescheduling some trains.

Andhra Pradesh Demanding reservation, Kapus on Sunday had set afire Ratnachal Express near Tuni railway station. No passenger was injured in the incident but 24 bogies were gutted. Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Godavari Express scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 17.15 hrs (5.15 p.m.) on Monday has been cancelled.

Vijayawada – Visakhapatnam Ratnachal Express scheduled to depart Vijayawada at 06.05 hrs on Tuesday and Visakhapatnam – Vijayawada Ratnachal Express scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam at 12.40 hrs on Tuesday have also been cancelled. Secunderabad – Tirupati Narayandri Express scheduled to depart Secunderabad at 18.05 hrs on Monday is rescheduled to depart at 20.30 hrs on the same day. Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Jhanmaboomi Express scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam at 06.15 hrs on Monday left at 09.30 hrs.

Visakhapatnam – New Delhi AP Express scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam at 07.50 hrs left at 11.30 hrs. The South Central Railway also announced that some trains cancelled or diverted earlier were restored to normal.

They include Tirupati – Visakhapatnam Tirumala Express, Secunderabad – Howrah Falaknuma Express, Vasco – Howrah Amravathi Express, Yesvantpur – Howrah Duronto Express, Mangalore – Santragachi (Howrah) Express and Tirupati – Bilaspur Express. Meanwhile, Southern Railway has announced that Chennai Central – Howrah Coromandel express, scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 08.45 hrs on Monday will now leave at 16.00 hrs.
