Training guns on PM Modi, Delhi Police, Kejriwal asks for answers on Delhi rapes

New Delhi, Oct. 16 : Having once targeted former Delhi chief minister Shiela Dikshit on the rising number of rapes in the national capital, Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Delhi Police on the gang rape of two minors on Friday.

“The Delhi police is under absolutely no democratic control. Who holds the responsibility of the Delhi Police report? Prime Minister says he has the police under him, so he should answer on this issue, but we won’t remain silent,” Kejriwal told the media here.

“The police has a huge role in this, they have to create an environment of security in the city. Prime Minister has to intervene personally,” he added.

When asked if a better cooperation between Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor could make capital a safer place, Kejriwal said that he was ready to co-operate.

“I am willing to cooperate please ask, LG if he is ready to do same or not. The LG and the police has only one work left to hinder the work of the government. They should ponder over the security concerns of women also,” he added.

A week after the horrific rape and torture of a four-year-old girl in Delhi, two more cases of minor girls being gang-raped have been reported from the capital. Both the girls have suffered severe injuries and are recovering in hospital. No arrests have been made in the case so far.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal also condemned the brutal gang rape of a two minors in the capital saying “There are huge shortcomings in the law and order situation of Delhi. All the agencies of the Centre and the Delhi Government as well, should find a solution to it.” (ANI)
