Trainee molested by senior at Juhu hotel

Mumbai, June 17: An 18-year-old trainee at a five-star hotel on Juhu Tara Road was molested by her senior on Sunday afternoon. The accused, Akram Mandal (27), has been arrested by the Santa Cruz police.

The victim, a hospitality management student at a Malad college, joined the Juhu hotel last month as part of her course.

The incident occurred on Sunday, when the housekeeping manager instructed her to clean room 202 on the second floor along with Mandal at 3.45 pm.

“After the duo entered the room, Mandal closed the door and started touching the girl.

Trying to push him away, she fell down, scrambled to her feet and ran out to save herself. She went straight to the housekeeping manager and complained against Mandal.

When the manager summoned Mandal, he confessed to having molested the girl,” said senior inspector M Choudhary.

The victim’s father is shocked. “When my daughter fell down, her head banged against the floor. Later, after she complained against the boy, she was asked to take an auto and go home.

However, nobody comforted her or even offered to escort her home after all that she had gibe through.

Mandal was questioned and let off. The hotel management did not even approach the police,” he said. The girl is a resident of Malad.

The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the Santa Cruz police on Sunday after which Mandal was picked up and remanded in police custody till June 25.
