Train engine catches fire, mishap avoided

Varanasi (UP), April 29: A train engine today caught fire while running due to overheating at Manduadih station on the outskirts of the city today.

The blaze was reported from the engine of Vibhuti Express, on its way to Howrah from Allahabad, around 8.15 PM, Ashok Kumar, Railway Public Relations Officer, said.

Fire tenders were rushed to the area and brought the blaze under control.

“Only some parts of the engine were damaged in the blaze due to overheating. Fire tenders doused the flames and everything is under control now,” the official said.

“No casualties or injuries were reported so far and the engine is being changed so that the train can continue its onward journey,” he said.
