Hyderabad, March 13: Train services to Chennai and Bengaluru, among other destinations were disrupted when a goods train derailed at Thimmapur in Kotur mandal of Mahboobnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, early today.
As 12 wagons of the goods train bound for Nagpur jumped off the rails, passengers of the Chennai-Egmore express from here were transported by buses to the city, according to South Central Railway (SCR) sources.
Several express and passenger trains were cancelled as railway track to a distance of over 500 metres, were damaged. While trains bound for Bengaluru were diverted via Raichur. Restoration work was on and it might take over 16 hours, the sources added.
