Train derailed, more than 100 passengers had narrow escape

Over hundred passengers had a narrow escape when a coach of the Yesvantpur-Howrah Super Fast Express (12864) train derailed near Kuppam, about 125 kilometres from Bangalore, on Tuesday night.

No one was injured in the accident and the South Western Railway staff hurried to clear the train from the track and ensure traffic movement.

The train, scheduled to make tracks at 7.30 pm, left around 8 pm.
At around 10.45 pm minutes, the second class sleeper coach No S1 derailed before it could reach Kuppam.

“It is not a major mishap and the coach did not derail. Just two wheels of the coach came off the track. The loco pilot on realising the danger halted the train,” said the railway police.

A team with a special car was rushed to the spot to put the wheels back on track. The mo¬v¬¬ement of other trains passing through Kuppam is expected to be affected till the track is cle¬a¬red.

A team will be constituted to examine the reason of the accident and submit a report.
