Traffic cops get ready for rains

Hyderabad, May 28: Pre-monsoon measures

* Urgent rectification measures to be taken up at 14 places, where rainwater stagnates for more than a hour

* Police have stopped giving permission to road cutting from May 15. Other departments asked to complete ongoing works before June 5

* Roads which have been cut for laying water

pipes or electrical cables will be re-carpeted

* Roads dug up by others will be re-carpeted by

the GHMC or the Cantonment Board in their area

* 23 uncovered manholes will be covered. Height of another 466 manholes to be raised to road level

* The civic body also asked to keep ready concrete or special bitumen to fill up potholes at short notice

* The Central Industrial Security Force to train traffic personnel in disaster management techniques

Water-logging woes

14 places where water-logging takes place for more than an hour are Lal Bungalow (Ameerpet), KCP Junction(Khairtabad), Villa Marie College (Somajiguda), Model House (Punjagutta), Maithrivanam (SR Nagar), Junction of road no 1 and 12 (Banjara Hills), road no 12, Yousufguda checkpost, Ranigunj, Karbala Maidan, Alugaddabavi (Secunderabad), Fever Hospital (Kacheguda), Gangabowli (Barkatpura) and Lalazar railway bridge (Chaderghat).
