Traffic cop hangs himself after tiff with wife

Hyderabad, August 03: A traffic head constable of Cyberabad police today ended his life, reportedly due to family problems. Police said he had a tiff with his wife for coming home drunken, after attending the Bonalu festival on Sunday night.

The deceased, P Venkatesh (45) was working as a head constable in Uppal traffic police station.

He resided at Venkat Reddy Nagar in Ramanthapur along with his wife Vijaya Lakshmi and two daughters.

Venkatesh had gone to his relative’s house at Chilkalguda. He later attended the Mahankali Jatara and returned home in an inebriated condition.

“Vijaya Lakshmi objected to her husband coming home drunk and both had a tiff.

Around 1 a.m, Venkatesh went to sleep in the bedroom while his wife slept along with the children in another room. On Monday morning, they forced open the door after Venkatesh did not venture out and found him hanging from the fan,” Uppal police inspector R Satyanarayana Raju said.

He did not leave behind any suicide note and police suspect he might have been depressed over the tiff with his wife.
