ACE Engineering College is celebrating Traditional Day on January 10 on the college premises Ankushapur village under Ghatkesar mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
It is a grand gala event to remind students of their roots. In these days of too much westernization and aping the western culture by the youngsters, it is quite necessary to divert their attention and ignite in them the glory and greatness of Indian culture, Heritage, Traditions, Festivals, Literature and so on.
January 10 is dedicated to this cause and all students and staff attend the college in traditional attire — kurta pyjamas, kalli lalchi and dhoti by men and full/half saris by girls. It is a feast to the eye to see these youngsters in the best traditional attire and equally feast to the ears to listen traditional, classical, folk performances in terms of solo/group songs/dances etc. The event is a platform for the students to showcase their hidden and creative talents depicting all our festivals, functions, occupations, professions, religions, literature and so on.
Haridas, Potter, Chilaka Josyam, Budabukkala, Burrakatha, Gobbillu, Bathukamma, Bonalu, Gangireddulu, snake charmer, farmer, Kolatam, Dandiya, Bogi Mantalu, Uttikotadam and many other Mono actions, skit items, Fancy dress will be presented on that day by students as well as professionals. The daylong event will come to an end with prize distribution to all winners of various competitions as a final finale.
Chief guest Sailaja Suman, Director, Prasara Bharathi will inaugurate the day at 10 am. Hari Prasad, former director of AIR, Vijayawada, cine producer and director will be the guest of honor. (NSS)
