Traders protest high-handedness of cops, cow vigilantes ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

Hyderabad: Come Eid-ul-Azha, the festival of sacrifice, and incidents of high-handedness of cops and cow vigilante are on the rise, in the name of `cruelty to animals’. The situation has landed cattle traders into distress. Several traders has sought Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjedullah Khan’s intervention in the recent past. They rued that although they were carrying oxen not cows, the cattle they were transporting got confiscated and was sent to gaushalas.

MBT leader said that he had come across at least half a dozen cases in the past few days. Traders were stopped in and around Hyderabad, Bhongir, Suryapet and Khammam and their cattle were seized.

In one such incident occurred last week 15 oxen of one Mohammed Ayaz were seized at Chintapally. His misery knew no bounds as he is a poor handicap man and doesn’t know how to get them back. ‘I am ruined’ Ayaz laments.

All India Jamiatul Quresh Action Committee (JQAC) vice-president Ahmed Pasha Qureshi feels it really strange that this is thought of only during Baqra’eid.”. Expressing concern over the situation he said “Traders are supposed to go to court and get the animals released. They will suffer heavy loss by the time the entire process gets completed.”
