Shimla, May 17: Trade Unions across the country will observe a general strike in the first week of September to protest against “anti-labour” policies of the government, CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said here today.
Dasgupta, General Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) who was here in connection with All India Working committee meeting of AITUC, charged both the UPA and NDA governments were following anti-labour policies and workers suffered from a feeling of insecurity.
He said AITUC and other trade unions have decided to launch a struggle against the government and hold a joint convention against price rise on July 15 next in Delhi.
“All the trade unions of the country will also organise a rally in Delhi in the first week of December to put pressure on the central government to change its policies”, he said.
