Tractor falls in canal in Nalgonda; 9 women died

Nalgonda: 9 women died when a tractor fell into a canal near Waddipatla village. According to sources the tractor trolley which was carrying around 35 agricultural workers overturned and fell into AMRP (Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project) canal.

According to eye witness the accident occurred due to driver’s negligence who was talking on cell phone while passing over the canal. A motorcycle rider came from the opposite side, the driver of the tractor in a bid to save him lost control and the vehicle fell into the canal. Out of the 35 passengers 10 were drowned. Bodies of 9 have been retrieved.

The victims, residents of Padamati thanda were going to Pulicherla village in the neighboring Peddavoora mandal for daily work. Even as rescue efforts are on, 9 bodies have been fished out so far.

The victims till now were identified as Ramavath Sona, 70, Ramavath Jeja, 65, Jarukula Dwali, 30, Ramavath Keli, 50, Ramavath Kamsali, 50, Banavath Beri, 55, Ramavath Bharathi, 35, and Ramavath Sunitha, 30.
