Telangana Praja Samithi that sowed the seed for Telangana State in 1969 is all set to be the watchdog of Telangana in the coming years. TPS will be contesting 119 Assembly seats in Telangana in the ensuing general elections and sees a greater role for itself as the protector and vigilante of the interests of Telangana people.
However, the TPS believes it has to acknowledge and honor the contribution of the participants of 1969 Telangana Movement and pay its due to the fathers of Telangana. TPS will be honoring the participants of the 1969 Telangana Movement on March 29 and will also release the biography of its founder Pratap Kishore, the man, who sowed the seed of “Telangana State” on the same day.
The TPS has set up a nomination committee comprising Neera Kishore, Vice President, G. Siddappa, General Secretary and Sanaullah Khan, General Secretary to select and nominate candidates for the forthcoming Assembly Elections. The committee has set guidelines for selection of candidates and clean history and good support base in the constituency are mandatory.
Neera Kishore said, “Telangana Praja Samithi will work towards development with social justice in Telangana and will be a major contributor to its growth story. And this can happen only through development of entrepreneurship at the grassroot level and through a participative political system that is open to all and not restricted by money and birth. We believe it is only clean parties like Telangana Praja Samithi that can ensure growth of Telangana”.
Neera Kishore said they want the Election Commission to set up peoples’ vigilance units in all constituencies to stop malpractices.
G. Siddappa said many people from the other parties like the TRS, TDP and Congress were approaching the TPS as they feel betrayed by their party bosses in giving more importance to money bags and heli-dropping them on constituencies, which the local leaders who nurtured for years. “We welcome genuine candidates and will give them an opportunity to contribute to Telangana development irrespective of their social or financial position”, he added.
