TPF DEMANDS RELEASE OF FARM LEADERS

Telangana Praja Front (TPF) on Thursday demanded that the government immediately release its leaders Maddileti and others, who were arrested while staging a dharna on NH-44 at Erravelli in Mahbubnagar district on farmers’ issue.
Speaking to the media here, TPF State president Akula Bhumaiah said that Kaveri seed was distributed to the farmers as cotton seed through the organizers. In turn, the farmers sowed the seed in 30,000 acres in seven mandals of Mahbubnagar. The company officials lured the farmers by claiming that seven quintals of cotton would be produced in one acre land. But shockingly, the seed failed to germinate causing severe losses to the farmers, he added.
In protest, leaders of various parties, led by TPF staged a dharna on NH-44. One Patel Prabhakar Reddy, a close relative of minister D K Aruna, prevented talks between farmers and organizers. Later, the police arrested the leaders, including Maddileti for staging a dharna on the national highway, he added.
Demanding that Kaveri Seeds pay adequate compensation to the farmers, who suffered losses,Bhumaiah asked the government to black list Karveri seeds, he demanded.TPF vice-president Veda Kumar appealed to the Telangana MPs and MLAs not to participate in the Presidential election as UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee was sabotaging Telangana State.
