TPCC urges Guv to intervene to stop “police excesses”

Alleging that the TRS government was adopting suppressive and oppressive measures to suppress the Opposition parties in the State, the TPCC urged the Governor to initiate stern action against those acting against the Constitution and protect democracy in regard to Mallannasagar lathi-charge.

TPCC leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, DK Aruna, Ponnam Prabhakar, M Ranga Reddy,  G Prasada Kumar, M Kodanda Reddy, Guduru Narayana Reddy and others met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum in this regard. They explained to the Governor that the government was forcibly acquiring land by issuing G.O.No.123 instead of implementing Land Acquisition Act of 2013.

Opposing forcible land acquisition for Mallannasagar project, the farmers came to the national highway to lodge their protest. But the government resorted to lathi-charge against the farmers. They alleged that human rights were being violated in Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s own district and own constituency against the constitutional rights.

They said the police misbehaved with Alampur MLA Sampath Kumar in Mahabubnagar district when he tried to visit Uttalooru village under Aija mandal in his own constituency Alampur on July 29. But the police arrested MLA at Aija and shifted him to Shanthi Nagar police station and kept him in police station entire day.

They urged the Governor to get the reports on these issues and initiate action against those who behaved against Constitution. (NSS)
