TPCC to hold three crucial meets on Sunday

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee will hold three crucial meetings on Sunday to devise its strategy to counter TRS Government in Telangana State.

The meetings, to be held at Imperial Gardens in Secunderabad, will be attended by AICC General Digvijay Singh, Secretary RC Khuntia, SC Department National President Kapila Raju, former union minister Salman Khursheed, Minorities Department National President Khursheed Ahmed among others. Briefing the media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, TPCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah informed that the meetings would also be attended by K Jana Reddy, D Srinivas, all sitting and former legislators and MPs, District and City presidents of Congress party.

The first meeting would discuss the status of ongoing membership drive in the State. The DCC presidents are likely to submit their reports and seek suggestions on intensifying the enrolment of new membership. This session would be followed by the meeting of TPCC Coordination Committee wherein latest political situations would be discussed. Finally, the leaders would participate in the State Minorities Convention being held at the same venue. Nearly 3,000 delegates have been invited for the convention.

Ponnala said that the TPCC would finalise its strategy to expose the failures of TRS Government. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other TRS leaders have been giving the slogans like ‘Bangaru Telangana’ or ‘reconstruction of Telangana’ only to mislead the people. He said that the Congress party, while in power from 2004 to 2009, has already laid strong foundations for the development of Telangana. Several new projects were completed in the last one decade and a few are nearing completion. He said that the then Congress Government introduced unique schemes like Arogasri, Fee-Reimbursement, scholarships, pension, free power for farmers and Jalayagnam. Therefore, the present TRS Government is trying to reap the benefits from the tree which was originally planted by the Congress party. (INN)
