Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday appealed to the people of Telangana to cooperate in ensuring a successful bandh on October 10.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Telangana Bandh is being observed to protest against the anti-farmers’ policies of the TRS Government. He said that the State Government not only failed to prevent suicides, but also failed to extend financial assistance to the families of those who committed suicide. He said that the government remained inert despite the loss of three consecutive crops. Despite making tall claims of Telangana being a rich State, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was not inclined to clear crop loan dues. When the government could spend thousands of crores on Mission Kakatiya, Water Grid and other projects, why is it hesitant to clear crop loan dues of Rs. 8,000 crore? he asked
