Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has given a call to its cadre to participate in large numbers in ‘Chalo Mallannasagar’ to be held on August 7 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Gajwel constituency to inaugurate Mission Bhagiratha scheme.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi and Alampur MLA Sampath Kumar said the Congress would explain to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister about the injustices being meted out to the farmers. Alleging that the police were acting like TRS activists, Ravi demanded that the State government initiate action against the police, who resorted to lathi-charge against the farmers.
Opposing redesigning of the Indira Sagar and Rajiv Sagar in Khammam district, Ravi said the Congress leaders would visit the projects shortly. The previous Congress government had completed four lift irrigation projects by 90 percent and they will be completed if the government sanctioned Rs 1,200 crore. But the TRS government allotted only Rs 300 crore and started the projects once again. He also said the TPCC would appoint District Congress Committees before August 8 by appointing party mandal presidents. (NSS)
