TPCC asks contract lecturers to storm TRS office, Secretariat on demands

Alleging that the contract lecturers fell into the trap of the ruling party, TPCC vice-president Dr Mallu Ravi said the State government has miserably failed to frame rules and regulations for regularization process of the contract lecturers though it came to power two-and-a-half years ago.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Ravi called upon the contract lecturers to storm the TRS headquarters office and the Secretariat demanding that the government fulfill its assurance given to them before elections. Reminding that the Congress mentioned in its manifesto that it would regularize services of contract lecturers, Ravi demanded that the TRS government immediately concede the demand of contract employees and provide employment to the jobless youth. He also accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of instigating the contract employees to malign the Congress party by staging dharnas against it. He charged the police with inciting contract employees to take to the streets.

Making it clear that Kathi Venkata Swamy was a Congress leader, Ravi said his party extended total support to the contract lecturers’ agitation. He demanded that the State government hike the basic pay of the contract lecturers if it was sincere towards them. Asking the State government as to why it failed to submit counter affidavit in the relevant cases, Ravi clarified that Congress never filed cases against the contract lecturers. He also clarified that Congress would not own responsibility if any one filed cases in their individual capacity. (NSS)
