TPCC accuses Owaisi of promoting religious extremism

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday accused MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi of promoting religious extremism.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, TPCC Spokespersons G Niranjan and B Kamalakar condemned the speech delivered by Asaduddin Owaisi at a public meeting at Darulsalaam on January 4 wherein he reportedly stated that all children are born as Muslims and their parents change their religion thereafter. They alleged that such statements would create enmity between different communities and therefore, they pose a threat to the secular fabric of the country. They said Owaisi’s statement does not match with his claims of being secular.

Niranjan accused the MIM President of promoting religious extremism and asked him to learn to respect other religions.

The TPCC leaders blamed BJP leaders for inciting the communal hatred in the country with their slogan of ‘Ghar Wapasi’. They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should step in to prevent such moves from the BJP leaders. Else, such provocative statements would prevent him to fulfill the dream of developing India.
