Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Saturday came down heavily on the Telangana Congress leaders for not announcing their stand on the statehood issue.
Talking to media persons, Kodandaram said that the JAC would expose the Congress and Telugu Desam parties stand in its bus yatra taken up from April 10-20 across the Telangana region. He said that the JAC would mount pressure on both the Congress and TDP during its bus yatra to make their party stand clear on statehood issue.
If the Telangana Congress makes clear a statement, Kodandaram said that the rate of students’ suicides would come down in the region.
He expressed regrets that though the Telangana Congress leaders convened a meeting at Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and former Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao, they failed to come up with a proper stand on Telangana issue. Suspecting that the Congress leaders were not sincerely working towards the formation of separate State, he said that the leaders have forgot their promises made to people of region and working to protect their own selfish interests.
As part of intensifying agitation, in the first phase, he said that the JAC would take out a torch rally from April 10 at Cherlapally. He said that the bus yatra would pass through Tandur, Vikarabad and Chevella on April 11, Siddipet on April 12 and Nizamabad and Adilabad on April 13.
Prof Kodandaram said that the JAC would organize rallies from village level to district headquarters on April 14, the birthday of constitutional architect Dr B R Ambedkar, demanding formation of smaller States for better administration and governance. (INN)
