Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Saturday stated that either the Telangana Rashtra Samithi or the Bharatiya Janata Party would contest from the Parakala Assembly constituency in the ensuing by-elections.
Talking to media persons at JAC office after emerging out of Steering Committee’s meeting at TNGO Bhavan at Nampally, Kodandaram said that the JAC would convene a meeting with both the parties and take a unanimous decision over contest from the Parakala assembly constituency. Stating the people of the region would get a wrong message if both the parties contest from Parakala constituency.
Kodandaram appealed to both parties to relent and come to unanimity over the contest. He said contest by both the parties would result in split of votes and would benefit the Samaikyandhra forces. He said that the JAC would finalise its strategy after convening a meeting with both the TRS and BJP.
The TP-JAC chairman also dismissed reports that the BJP leaders left the Steering committee meeting before it concluded. Responding to the TRS members not turning up for the Steering Committee’s meeting, he said that the TRS leaders were busy attending election committee meeting at the same time. However, he said that the TRS has taken prior permission and informed him about their inability to attend the meeting.
Kondandaram also reiterated that all district JACs were following the directives of State JAC orders in letter and spirit.
