Mumbai, February 08: Toyota Motor Corp is considering a recall for Sai and Lexus gasoline-electric hybrid models that use the same brake system as the Prius, the Nikkei busines said.
Toyota, which has recalled more than 8 million vehicles around the world for problems with unintended acceleration, has decided to recall its new Prius hybrid in Japan to fix a braking software glitch, a dealer said.
The Nikkei said the firm is planning to inform Japan’s transport ministry of its plans to recall the Prius early this week, and it is also considering doing the same for the Sai and Lexus HS250h as soon as a software patch is ready.
The Sai sedan, which went on sale in December, is the second hybrid-only model under the Toyota brand, and the HS250h is the automaker’s first dedicated hybrid model under the premium Lexus brand.
