`Towering` Irfan may miss Pak”s series against Sri Lanka due to injury

Towering Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan may reportedly miss the forthcoming Test and ODI series against Sri Lanka, to be held in the United Arab Emirates, because of a hamstring injury.

The pacer apparently broke down in the last match of the Twenty20 series against South Africa in the UAE earlier this month, after being selected for all the Tests, ODIs and T20 games against South Africa in the searing heat of Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. According to The Dawn, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that the left-armer has been advised at least four weeks rest to make complete recovery from his injury, adding that he appears to be out of the series against Sri Lanka as it starts on Dec 11.

The board further said that Irfan is being monitored by their doctors, adding that that even the fitness of veteran right-arm paceman Umar Gul remained uncertain. However, the selectors appear keen to have Gul available for selection for the Sri Lanka series after Irfan sustained the injury, the report added. (ANI)
