Sonamarg(J&K), October 16: Asserting that tourism holds key for generating economic activities, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today called for capacity building and training, so that youth could earn their livelihood.
“Tourism is an essential sector for generating economic activities and creating job avenues for thousands of young people directly and indirectly in the state,” Omar said chairing the third meeting of Sonamarg Development Authority here.
However, he said the Tourism Development Authorities in the state should create environment friendly tourist infrastructure, maintaining and preserving the beauty, which nature has bestowed upon the State.
“Our first priority should be to protect eco-system and environment, which are the soul of the natural beauty of Kashmir,” he said adding that picturesque spots like Sonamarg need focussed attention for development and conservation.
