Tough to conduct Inter exams’

Hyderabad, March 01: With 3.95 lakh students all set to appear for the forthcoming Intermediate examinations, the State government junior college lecturers from Telangana region said that the going will not be smooth for the government to conduct examinations from March 7 at the 1,118 centres spread over 10 districts of Telangana, given the current situation prevailing in the region.

Exams disrupted

Lecturers said that Botany, Zoology, Physics and Chemistry practical exams were disrupted at 17 centres in Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Medak districts owing to the non-cooperation movement coupled with the 48-hour bandh observed in the region on February 22 and 23.

“Given the situation, is it possible for the government to conduct Inter theory exams smoothly?” argued Telangana Inter Vidya JAC General Secretary P. Madhusudhan Reddy on Monday.

A decision was also taken not to boycott exams keeping in view the larger interest of students.

The Telangana Joint Action Committee has echoed the same views.

Lecturers to agitate

He, however, said that the situation was not favourable for the Board of Intermediate Education to conduct exams as most lecturers wanted to participate in the ongoing non-cooperation movement.

If the schedule gets affected, students would not be able to appear for the national-level tests apart from rescheduling the dates of EAMCET-2011.

JAC plea

The JAC is also contemplating to request the Board to reschedule the English exam scheduled for March 10 in view of the proposed Million March to Hyderabad.

The march aims to exert pressure on the Centre to introduce Telangana Bill in the Parliament.

Meanwhile, Telangana Joint Action Committee leader P. Ravinder said they were yet to take a decision on boycotting the SSC exams commencing from March end.
