Barasat: Thousands of scrapped 1,000 rupee notes were found in a sack amounting to several lakhs at Rajarhat in North 24 Parganas district this morning.
A senior police officer said the notes were torn and dumped near a playground.
The persons behind the act could not be identified, he said.
Similar incidents had been reported from several parts of the state as well as from rest of the country since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation move on November 8 night.
