New Delhi, April 05: Six top upcoming Grandmasters from all over the world, including India’s K Sasikiran and national champion Parimarjan Negi, will feature in th AAI International Chess tournament to be held here from June 21 to July 2.
Led by Fabiano Caruana of Italy and the women’s world champion Hou Yifan of China, the field would also include Philippines No. 1 Wesley So, Czech Republic No. 2 Viktor Laznicka, besides Sasikiran and Negi of India.
“It would be a good contest. I’ve played all the top players in the tournament. I don’t have a good record against Fabiano, hopefully it would be good competition this time. I will start preparing for the tournament in mid May,” said Parimarjan Negi.
This will be first ever Category 17 chess tournament in India with a unique group of six grandmasters playing in a double round robin event.
