Top priority to women in all welfare schemes: CM

Hyderabad, August 30: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Sunday stated that the government would give top priority for women in all the schemes implemented under centre and state schemes.

Talking to media persons after the inauguration of housing colony constructed under JNNURM at Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy district, the Chief Minister also lauded the Congress president Sonia Gandhi for giving priority to implement welfare schemes for the benefit of women.

Mr Rosaiah He said that the government was considering a proposal to implement 50 per cent reservation for women in the ensuing local body elections.

He said the government would implement all people-friendly schemes letter and spirit for their upliftment.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to plug loopholes in the schemes in order reach benefits to genuine beneficiaries.

The government has allocated Rs 12,575 crore for housing sector in the state capital to construct houses for poor and middleclass people, he said.

Mr Rosaiah said that the government has introduced 268 schemes for the benefit of poor and middle class and implemented 58 schemes. The remaining 45 schemes are progressing at various stages.

The Chief Minister He said that the government wants to make state slum-free by constructing houses for poor and middleclass.

He said the government would introduce metro rail system at global standards to get international recognition for Hyderabad.

On the occasion, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja released Rajiv Awaas Yojana Action Plan for slum free city by 2014 with an outlay of Rs 24,567.73 crore.

Union Minister for State for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi, Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, BC Welfare Minister M Mukesh Goud, Health Minister Danam Nagender, Mayor B Karthika Reddy and others were present.
