TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao today said top priority would be given to agriculture after formation of Telangana state.
Speaking to media, Rao said enough priority was not given to agriculture till now. Various wings in the department are inactive and government has not given proper importance to the research and extension wings of agriculture department, he said.
Schemes were being formulated to develop irrigation, agriculture and electricity sectors after formation of Telangana. ‘We can irrigate all types of crops in Telangana and there was proper environment to produce seeds’, he said adding that Solar power system would be encouraged to meet the demands of power.
The TRS chief said every dalit farmer would be given three acres of land after Telangana state was formed and the farmers would be imparted training in agriculture. Soil testing would be done and the crops suitable for each area would be identified. He also said that if the government gives encouragement to agriculture, then the youth would be attracted towards cultivation. (NSS)
