Patna, July 05: About 8,000 people, including top NDA leaders like BJP general secretary Ravishankar Prasad, Bihar BJP president C P Thakur and his JD(U) counterpart Vijay Choudhary, were arrested here while enforcing the nation-wide bandh against the hike in petroleum products.
JD(U) Rajya Sabha members Shivanand Tiwari and Upendra Kushwaha were arrested when they along with hundreds of supporters blocked the busy Dakbungalow Road crossing here, official sources said.
The leaders were whisked away in a bus to a camp jail at Gardanibagh where they would be detained till this evening.
The bandh remained peaceful and about 8,000 people were arrested from different parts of the state for disrupting train services and blocking movement of vehicular traffic, Additional Director General (HQ) P K Thakur said.
