Top CEOs pedal cycles in Cyberabad

Some 150 top Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of several Indian and Multinational companies assembled at Raheja Mindspace in Cyberabad at 6.30 am to be a part of ‘Chiefs on a Roll’ CEOs’ cycling event. Organised by CyKul, a pioneering cycling promotion company, they cycled for 10 km in Cyberabad area to promote an active life style and to reduce pollution levels and to promote Hyderabad as a major cycling destination.

Inaugurating the event along with Telangana Government’s IT Secretary Dr Jayesh Ranjan, Rohit Tandon, Business Head of Vodafone India, which sponsored the event, reiterated Vodafone’s commitment to promote health, safety and well-being of the people in general and its employees in particular, apart from building a world class telecom infrastructure in Telangana State.

Some of the prominent among the team of over 150 CEOs who participated in the event were MD, HMR NVS Reddy, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad CV Anand, DCP (Traffic), Cyberabad Avinash Mohanty, Senior Vice President Infosys Narsimha Rao Mannepalli, Director of Phoenix Group Satish Chukkapalli, Serial Entrepreneur Srini Raju and CII Telangana Chairperson Vanita Datla .

During the panel discussion later, NVS Reddy said “roads are meant for people and not cars. Government of Telangana is committed to make Hyderabad a smart city and it will utilise the Hyderabad Metro Rail project to convert Hyderabad into a people friendly green city”. He requested the Corporate Chiefs to join hands with HMR in establishing bike stations at all the Metro stations and nearby residential and business areas to provide the last mile connectivity between Metro Rail stations and work areas through non-polluting cycle.
Explaining the significance of CyKul, which is a combination of ‘Çy’ for cycle and Sanskrit word ‘Kul’ for caste/community, NVS Reddy has appealed to the ethnic instincts of the CEOs to promote cycling in a big way among their employees and others in the city. While Dr Jayesh Ranjan informed the CEOs about pro-active measures of the Telangana Government to make Hyderabad a safe city for cycling, Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand assured full cooperation and support from Police to provide a safe environment for cycling in Cyberabad area. The main organiser of the event CyKul’s founder and CEO Deenanath Harapanahalli said their mission was to promote cycling and active lifestyle. (NSS)
