A high-level meeting on the Andhra Pradesh affairs was held under the leadership of BJP national president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday.
According to sources, Union ministers Arun Jaitley, Venkaiah Naidu, Sujana Chowdhary and others participated in the meeting. The ministers and top BJP leaders are said to have discussed the assurances given to AP during the introduction of AP Reorganisation Bill by the UPA government in 2014 in the Parliament. They also said to have discussed the various funds and other incentives the Centre gave to AP after the NDA came to power in the Centre. They also discussed issues like special category status to AP, Polavaram project, separated railway zone.
The top BJP leaders favoured giving a financial package to AP, however, Sujana Chowdhary insisted the top BJP leaders that only special category status alone would benefit the state. (INN)
