Top Andhra cop to probe violence in Osmania University

Hyderabad, February 16: The Andhra Pradesh government today asked Additional DGP (CID) A Sivanarayana to probe into the recent incidents of violence in Osmania University here.

Over 20 people, including students, journalists and police personnel, were injured during the violence that broke out at the campus on Sunday night and yesterday. Police used batons and lobbed tear gas shells to quell the agitating pro- Telangana students who hurled stones on them.

The injured have been asked to contact the office of the Additional DGP over the violent incidents and media persons requested to bring the video clippings and photos covering the incident.

Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, who held a high- level meeting at the secretariat this evening, appointed Additional DG (Law and Order) M Ratan to investigate into the attacks on journalists in the state.
