Hyderabad, May 19: Demanding that the TDP make its stand clear on separate Telangana, the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) on Wednesday threatened to disrupt the party’s proposed padayatra starting from May 23.
The OUJAC gave a call to the people of the region to obstruct the padayatra and drive away the party leaders from the region.
The TDP has proposed to take out a padayatra from Martyr’s Memorial in the city to Yadagirigutta in Nalgonda district from May 23 to May 26.
“The TDP should make its stand clear on separate Telangana. It should give in writing to the Centre the party’s nod for the creation of separate state. Otherwise, we will obstruct the yatra,” OUJAC spokesperson P Kailash said. The party should also make a resolution favouring separate Telangana in its Mahanadu to be held at the end of the month or else the TDP leaders would face the wrath of the people of the region, the OUJAC warned.
The OUJAC gave a call to the people of the region to welcome the padayatra with tomatoes and eggs.
“A scene similar to Mahabubabad would be repeated if the TDP goes ahead with the padayatra without making its stand clear on separate Telangana,” Kailash said adding that the party leaders would be welcomed in the region with garlands if the party takes a favourable stand on Telangana.
