JAIPUR: Ajmer’s JLN Medical College sees death toll reaching to 16 this as three more new borns died in the hospital on Saturday. The rising toll also prompted the institution to form a three-member panel to probe the deaths.
Most of the kids who died were underweight, and had been referred to the medical college from other hospitals.
Health minister Rajendra Rathore warned hospitals and said strict action would be taken in case of carelessness in treating infants. He asked the principal and the superintendent of JLN to remain alert on health of infants. To improvise the condition the hospital has increased the number of doctors and other staff.
JLN Medical College principal KC Agarwal said the probe panel had the heads of paediatrics and medicine departments, besides the nursing superintendent. “Each death will be probed. The panel will look into reasons and suggest ways to prevent such deaths in the future,” he said.
