Tolerance debate: Anil Kapoor asks artists to stay united

Amidst the ongoing rage against the growing intolerance in the country, actor Anil Kapoor has said that all artists must stay together irrespective of the government at the Centre, adding that it was not appropriate to return the awards in protest.

“It’s not like this is happening in the present government or the previous government. Whether it’s the Congress or Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), we all (artists) have believed that we have to stay together,” Kapoor told the media here.

When asked to comment on the move of various actors and directors to returning their awards, the ’24’ star said ‘I don’t think it is right to return the awards.”

Earlier, filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee, along with 11 other filmmakers, had earlier returned their National Awards to offer support to the FTII students and protest against the ‘growing intolerance’ in the country.
