Madurai: Another professor at a college affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University was picked up the CB-CID sleuths after the sex-for-cash scandal operated by Madurai Kamaraj University’s professor’s luring their female student to perform sexual favours for officials from top positions came to light a week ago.
The CB-CID took in professor Murugan who teaches in college’s Management Studies department was absconding since the lady professor Nirmala Devi mentioned his name during the scandal interrogation by the CB-CID, TNM reported.
Nirmala Devi was taken into custody after a scandal audio tape of her’s luring her female students to perform sexual favours for college’s high official’s was leaked. During her interrogation, she had mentioned about her other associates who were working together in the crime.
The associate professor Murugan was nabbed after he was recording entering the varsity campus. The CB-CID had also told the media that they were looking for another close aide of the two named Karuppiah.
According to TNIE, CB-CID believes that the two close associates-cum professor’s Murugan and Karuppiah had placed Nirmala to lure the students.
Investigating the varsity’s scandal Retired IAS officer Santhanam was appointed by the TN Governor Banwarila Purohit.
So far the CB-CID sleuths have interrogated and searched the offices of the Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Vice Chancellor PP Chellathurai, and Registrar V Chinniah.
The officials said regarding the scandal they have found material evidence which includes call records of the scandal which includes the varsity’s officials.
The officials probing the case confiscated the material documents of all the expenses given to the three professors from the Registrar Chinniah’s office.
The officials are also making efforts to grab some evidence from CCTV footages of the Varsity.
