TN Districts, Hyderabad in final of Buchi Babu cricket

Chennai, August 26: Hyderabad enjoyed a slice of luck as the spin of coin favoured them against Karnataka after bad light stopped play in the semi-final of the All-India cricket tournament for the Buchi Babu trophy, here Wednesday.
Karnataka, chasing Hyderabad’s total of 246 all out, were 225 for nine in 78.2 overs when rains brought about a premature end to the two-day game that was decided on spin of coin.

In the final, to be played over the weekend, Hyderabad take on Tamil Nadu Combined Districts XI who defeated Assam by seven wickets with Arun Karthik scoring a fine 124 for the winners.

In the other semi-final, Karthik played a stellar knock of 124 (5×4, 4×6) as the TN Districts made light of the Assam attack.

Karthick and R. Srinivasan (30) put on 102 runs off 175 balls in 99 minutes for the second wicket to lay the foundation for a facile victory for the Districts.

Suresh Kumar scored a rapid 55 (3×4 and 2×6) as the Districts managed to scramble home even as the rain clouds gathered.

Hydeabad 246 all out in 84.3 overs beat Karnataka 225 for nine in 78.2 overs (VS Tilak Naidu 72 not out, Amit Varma 36, Shoaib 3/36, Pragyan Ohja 5/67). Hyderabad won on spin of coin.

Assam 267 all out in 87.5 overs lost to Tamil Nadu Combined Districts 270 for 3 in 65.3 overs (K.B.Arun Karthick 124, R.Srinivasan 30, S.Sureshkumar 55 not out, K.Sriram 33 not out).
