Tiruchirapalli, November 13: Latchiya Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (LMDK) founder President and Popular film Star T Rajender today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa should concentrate on public welfare measures instead of destroying previous DMK government s achievements including the uniform education system. Addressing a press conference here, he said despite the fact that the AIADMK came forward to offer a few seats for his party in order to forge an alliance with him in the recent assembly elections, he did not want to have such alliance and stayed away from the both the assembly and local bodies elections. He claimed that because of his tireless efforts during the MGR led AIADMK rule and Previous AIADMK government led by J Jayalalithaa, the DMK party had grown, but the high command of the DMK party never recognised his efforts. To a question, he said during the DMK rule he had got adequate tax exemption for the Tamil movies, but in the present AIADMK rule the taxes on films were only hiked but several attempts were made to destroy Tamil film world. The people of Tamil Nadu had defeated the DMK in both the recent Assembly and Local bodies elections because people did not want domination of one family in party and government. He took strong exception to the Union Government s reported to move to probe money power behind the Koodangulam Nuclear Power Plant opposition movement and said such move would mean a open threat against the agitators. It was duty of the Union Government to clear doubts in the minds of the people besides ensuirng saftey to the people living in and around Koodangulam.
