TN CM, Dy CM take out peaceful march to mark death anniversary of Jayalalithaa

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam along with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) workers and leaders took out a peaceful march on the second death anniversary of former state chief J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday.

Palaniswami and Panneerselvam along with scores of party workers, donning black and white clothes took to the streets of the state’s capital to pay tribute to their beloved “Amma”.

Amid tight security, AIADMK party workers marched from Anna Salai to the Jayalalithaa memorial at Chennai’s Marina beach where they paid their tribute to her.

The streets of the city were also filled with posters and flags, with Jayalalithaa’s pictures in her honour.

Jayalalithaa was admitted in Chennai’s Apollo hospital on September 22, 2016, and after being treated in the hospital for 75 days, she breathed her last on December 5, 2016.

The former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was buried with full state honours at the Marina Beach near MGR Memorial in Chennai.

A five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu, also known as Puratchi Thalaivi, Jayalalithaa was once also a prolific and versatile actress in Tamil cinema, between 1961-1980.
